If You Want To License Your Music Then Don’t Keep Your Clients Waiting.

by Sebastian Samuels

It’s the truth but it happens over and over again. From past experience many musicians tend to be too scattered and all over the place and not very responsible with emails or calls. So if you want to make money from your music and you are very serious about it then be responsible and follow up with your clients.

If you list your tracks with music licensing companies make sure all your information is sent over to the clients. Any specific track information like writer info, publishing info, any moods, themes all of that good stuff include it along. For one reason it will make it easier on the licensing company to actually license your tracks and also if they have licenses for you but are missing certain information then they don’t have to follow up with you to obtain the additional necessary information. If that happens you might lose out on the licenses and I’m sure you don’t want to lose out on the chance of making money do you?

I can’t tell you how many times in the past we’ve had to obtain certain unprovided information from bands we had listed for licensing and many times we were unable to get in touch with them or were too late to reply back to us. Sometimes the email addresses or phone numbers would get disconnected and we would not be updated with current information from the band and oh well they lost out.

So I can’t stress how important it is when you are working with clients. It’s important to provide all information and keep updating the clients with all your current info. Because you never know when a music license opportunity might come up and you are missing in action and lose out on a 15 thousand dollar license.
