What’s Popular Is What Gets Licensed Over And Over Again!

By Sebastian Samuels

Clients always ask for soundalikes of popular tracks so when you produce music think about tracks that have had success in the past or are currently successful and make them slightly sound like popular tracks without crossing the line and making them identical or a cover. If you want to license your music and license more of your music then this is something you have to really think about. Because clients will always say let’s get for example Wild Thing by Tone Loc but what it boils down to is they’ll use Wild Thing for a temp track on a project and they’ll start falling madly in love with the song and they are cutting the song with the footage. Last days and hours they will thinking about getting the rights to the song but the reality is they can’t really afford it for one. They don’t have enough time to negotiate anything with the master rights holder, the publishing side so they are scrambling to find a soundalike. Well unfortunately the soundalikes really do not exist.

So get soundalikes made for tracks that have been popular in the past and what’s popular today and get your music out there to producers and users of music for productions and I guarantee you your music will get licensed and you will make money from music licensing.

“Always Remember Quality Versus Quantity To Get Your Music Licensed”

by Sebastian Samuels

If you really want to have your music licensed then you have to make sure your recording quality is 110% top quality. Too many times we’ve received cds or emailed mp3s and one listen to the tracks you wonder wow are they kidding me? The quality just sucks.

If we sent those tracks to producers of television, films or advertising we would really be laughed at so we wont waste their time and seriously you shouldn’t waste anyones time by sending music/audio that sounds crappy. Make sure all your music is recorded at the highest quality and output at the highest quality. If you have your music in your own personal library and they are at mp3 quality then please do not burn them and send them to the various licensing agencies. That is a big no no and your music will never ever be licensed because the quality will just suck. Unfortunately the licensing agency will think you don’t know what you are doing and will not sign you or represent you for music licensing.

So think twice before you send any music and listen to your music before you send any to producers or agencies/licensing companies. Trust me you will be very happy in the long run and your music will be licensed!
